Guidelines for presentation

Presentation Contents

The following items should be included in your presentation. However, you may add additional items as appropriate.

  • Introduce the team and the members
  • Outline the presentation, i.e., what you are going to present.
  • Outline the system to be tested, the user section you focused on, the tool ecology
  • Explain how the testing planing, pilot test and actual test went
  • Demonstrate the results through your mock-ups
  • Describe the organisation of the teamwork.
  • Summarize the presentation by indicating e.g.
    • The accomplishments, shortcomings, and lessons learned from the project
    • Make suggestions on how the organisation of the course and learning in it could be improved.
  • Questions and answers

Presentation Rules

Each team will have max. 15 minutes for the presentation and this limit will be enforced. Presentations exceeding the allowed time will be cut off, except those delayed for reasons beyond the control of the presenters.
There will be a computer with Internet connection, Web browser, MS PowerPoint, and a projector available. Please upload the presentation materials into the wiki so that they can be easily accessed with a web browser. In case of network failure, you should have a backup of your presentation with you. The team should be able to set up their presentation within 2 min, so test in advance.

Presentation Assessment

The presentation format should be formal (excluding the dressing code). Computer aided presentation (e.g., PowerPoint). The evaluators of the presentation are the instructor and every team in this class. The presentation will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Introduction

  • An introduction is intended for generating interest in the audience and setting the scene for the details that follow.
  • Organization in both the contents and the way in which the project is presented
  • Too much detail distracts the audience, so focus on important aspects and issues.
  • The development should be understandable, well sequenced, logical and relevant.
    Visual support
  • Well chosen and produced slides, demos (in terms of format, style, contents and understandability)
  • Conclusion
  • The presentation should end with a conclusion that gives a summary about the key points covered.
  • The presentation should stress the positive aspects while report limitations.
    Attitude
  • The presenter should not be distracted, hesitant
  • He/she should address and look at the audience, react to them.
  • The tone should be lively and clear.
  • He/she should also finish on time.
    Questions
  • The presenter should prompt for questions, and provide confident answers.

Presentation Participation

Everyone in the class is required to attend the presentation and arrive on time except of previously excused absence. Failing to attend the presentation, the individual will receive a zero grade for his/her project presentation. Arriving the class after the first presentation starts, 25% of the project presentation grade will be deduced from the individual's grade.
