The Micropod power supply system is based on a Sanyo ML2430 cell, charged by a solar panel. The power capability is based on operating for a significant period without sunlight (winter in the UK....) and therefore leaves a small power budget. We achieve best optimization by using the ML2430 cell voltage directly, so whilst we do pump for power rails like LCD drivers, we avoid doing this wherever possible and run most circuits directly off the battery. This leaves a power rail in the range 2.2V to 3.0V with a current drain of 200uA available for ancillary circuits such as flow sensing.
The MicroPod in its standard form will be configured to read 2 strain gauges ie will have 8 wires, 4 per gauge. Each gauge has 4 wires because there are 2 complimentary gauges feeding into bridges inside the MicroPod. If you could configure your hardware to look like a strain gauge, then you would benefit from using the standard MicroPod, with only software tweaks. If not; then we could consider custom hardware in the MicroPod, or an interface externally to simulate strain gauges.
