Journalism for Civic Involvement, Democracy and Development (JOCID) -project started in September 2007. The first project cycle lasted for two years, ending in August 2009. Project has been funded by the North-South-South Higher Education Institution Network Programme, Administered by CIMO (Centre for International Mobility). First Jocid network consisted of four partner HEI's:
Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, Diak, Finland (Coordinator)
Helsinki Polytechnic, Stadia (now Metropolia), Finland
Polytehcnic of Namibia, PoN, Namibia
Tumaini University - Iringa University College, IUCo, Tanzania
A new project proposal, JOCID II, was submitted in December 2008. JOCID II was granted project funding for another two years, 2009-2011. For the second project cycle a fifth partner HEI, University of Liberia, joined the partner network.
Main activities of the JOCID consist of student and teacher exchange and intensive courses.
