NEXT Berlin -konferenssin sydän on kuluttajan, teknologian ja markkinoinnin muodostama kolminaisuus. Konferenssissa markkinoinnin ja liiketoiminnan päättäjät, tekniset asiantuntijat sekä luovat toimijat kokoontuvat jakamaan ajatuksia alan tärkeimmistä ilmiöistä seuraavan 12 kuukauden aikana. Tätä yhdistelmää NEXT kutsuu ainutlaatuiseksi eurooppalaisten konferenssien joukossa.

Konferenssi koostuu useasta eri aiheisiin keskittyvästä linjasta, mm. teknologia, media, mobiili, start-up, luovuus, "experience". Jokaisella linjalla on oma kuraattorinsa, joka on toiminut puheenvuorojen kokoajana ja linjan sisällön koordinaattorina:

Osallistavasti koostettu ohjelma

Aiheiden ja puheenvuorojen koostaminen on aloitettu jo kuukausia aiemmin avaamalla NEXTin verkkosivuille ns. Proposals -tila. Tänne tilaan halukkaat yritykset/puhujat ovat voineet ehdottaa omaa puheenvuoroaan pienen digitaalisen presentaation – esimerkiksi "puhuva pää"- tyyppisen videopätkän – avulla. Oman puheenvuoron lisäksi sivuilla on ollut mahdollista ehdottaa myös jotakuta toista puhujaa kertomaan toivotusta aiheesta.

Näiden ehdokkaiden joukosta verkkosivuilla kävijät – "NEXT Community" – ovat voineet alkuvuoden aikana äänestää niitä puhujia ja aiheita, joita haluaisivat konferenssissa kuulla. Eniten ääniä saaneiden ehdotusten joukosta kunkin linjan (track) kuraattori on tehnyt lopullisia valintoja, jotka ovat päätyneet konferenssin lopulliseen ohjelmaan. Puheenvuoroja on todennäköisesti hankittu ja puhujia kutsuttu myös edellämainitun äänestysprosessin ulkopuolelta. Konferenssin järjestäjä on saksalainen digitoimisto SinnerSchrader, ja sillä on myös useita yrityksiäyhteistyökumppaneina. Todennäköisesti SinnerSchraderin ja kumppanien intresseillä on ollut oma vaikutuksensa lopulliseen ohjelmaan. 

Ohjeistukset puheenvuoroille

NEXT toivoo voivansa pitää puheenvuorot aitoina ja yksilöllisinä, ja siksi toivotaan puheenvuoroissa otettavan huomioon seuraavat ohjeistukset:

  • Puhujille ei makseta palkkiota. Periaatteena on ajatusten ja kokemusten yhteisöllinen jakaminen ja verkostoituminen.
  • Kaupallisia presentaatioita ei suosita, vaan sisällön vaikuttimena tulee olla ideoiden jakaminen.
  • Puhujia pyydetään osallistumaan konferenssiin molempina päivinä, ei vain oman puheenvuoronsa ajaksi. 
  • Puheenvuorojen tulee pysyä niille annetussa kestossa.
  • Puheenvuorot tallennetaan ja videot julkaistaan verkossa, jossa niitä voidaan katsoa ja ladata ilmaiseksi.
  • Tarvittaessa NEXT korvaa puhujan matkakustannuksia, jos tämä ei esim. työskentele organisaatiossa, joka voisi ne hoitaa.
Huomio start-upeihin

Konferenssissa oman huomionsa saavat start-up-innovaatioyritykset, jotka voivat esitellä ideoitaan konferenssin verkostoitumisalueella Start-up Exhibitorina. Yritykset kisailevat myösvuoden start-up-yrityksen tittelistä. Yli 100 sähköisen NEXTille ilmoitetun ideapresentaation joukosta yleisö ja vaikutusvaltainen tuomaristo ovat äänestäneet varsinaiset 12 finalistia (linkin takana myös pitch-videot). Finalistit pääsevät presentoimaan yrityksensä ja ideansa NEXTin lavalla ensimmäisenä konferenssipäivänä. Finalistien joukosta valitaan voittaja, joka saa palkinnoksi Deutsche Telekomin tarjoaman 10 000 euron arvoisen "Start-up Pitch Packagen". Start-up trackin kuraattorina toimii Min-Kin Mak Deutsche Telekomista.

Refinder -- Yhdistää pilvi-appit (Dropbox, Google Docs ja Twitter) ja mahdollistaa käyttöaktiviteetin ja datan seuraamisen streamissa, joista voi tehdä hakuja ja jota voi filtteröidä
Squadmail -- "Dropbox sähköpostille", antaa käyttäjien jakaa email-postilaatikoita minkä tahansa toisen sähköpostitilin kanssa 
Secomba -- Käyttövalmis kryptauspalvelu pilvipalveluille BoxCrypter-softan avulla 
eyeQuest -- Hyödyntää joukkoja ja näyttää kuvia ja videoita eri paikoista reaaliaikaisesti

NEXT 100 – saksan vaikutusvaltaisimmat digivaikuttajat

NEXT on nimennyt "NEXT 100 -ryhmän" eli tämän hetken 100 merkittävintä saksalaista digivaikuttajaa yhdessä yhteistyökumppaniensa Daimlerin ja WirtschaftsWochen kanssa. Myös tämä prosessi alkoi julkisella ehdokkaiden nimeämisellä ja äänestämisellä NEXTin verkkosivuilla. 10 hengen nimetty jury valitsi eniten ääniä saaneista ja omista suosikeistaan Top 100 -listan, joka julkaistaan WirtschaftsWochessa toukokuun 5. päivänä. Kaikki listalla mainitut henkilöt on kutsuttu osallistumaan konferenssiin.
