CoINNO, Boosting Leisure Sector through Service Design
is a two-year project, funded by the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council trough the ERDF funding instrument. The project started in August 2015 and will continue until the end of June, 2017.

The main goal is to stimulate the services so that the entrepreneurs of the leisure-sector will move on from the self-employment to the growth business. Also their business will be stimulated by renewed service ideas. The end-user’s involvement in the innovation process guarantees better results in the form of suitability for their free-time consumption.

The target area covers all greater Helsinki capital area with special focus on Pasila and Arabia districts.

Outlining the project objectives:

  • To provide support for the service providers by peer networks and by the facilitated innovation process to develop the experience services in end-user friendly ways (in culture, sports, culinary, and tourism services sectors)
  • To create new, vibrant business services and city culture with multi-sectoral service design
  • Facilitate and increase co-operation between entrepreneurs and students
  • Strengthening international cooperation by seeking new partners in order to internationalize the CoINNO model and to learn from other innovation models

The target groups of the project are entrepreneurs in the leisure-sectorand other entrepreneurs. The stakeholders are students, teaching staff, HEI’s in Finland and abroad, the end-users, entrepreneurs’ associations and unions as well as the governmental bodies. 

The project is implemented by the leading partner Metropolia University of Applied Sciences together with the project partner Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.
