Laura-Maija Hero is a senior lecturer and a project manager in Metropolia University for applied sciences in Finland. She has 10 years experience in teaching in university for applied sciences in Finland (cultural management, multidisciplinary innovation projects) and 10 years experience in international tech business  in different marketing management positions at Nokia Oyj (technology marketing, b2c campaign, partner marketing, brand and b2b marketing, global marketing activation). She holds a PhD in education and is active in post-doc research and RDI projects (funding applications, project management, expert work). She is highly networked internationally and with local companies and entrepreneurs. Interests at the moment are in innovation and entrepreneurship learning and teaching, university-industry open innovation management, opportunities of new technologies, design thinking and co-creation practices of teams and networks, higher education and professional competence, cultural and event management, futures thinking, entrepreneurship and experiential marketing.

Minno Effects 2019- . Towards more effective and impactful innovation and entrepreneurship pedagogy. Research team of 5 researchers from the fields of education, culture, health, wellbeing.

Creathon (ESF) 2018 - 2020. Creathon R&D project boosts creative sector by increasing technological competences and finding new ways to deepen the connection between creative and ICT sectors in the educational structures of universities of applied sciences. The targets groups of the national, networked Creathon-project are 1) entrepreneurs in SMEs in creative industries, 2) cultural sector and ICT sector educators and final stage students and 3) ICT companies and associations. Project manager and expert developer LM Hero, 3 other universities and 8 ICT and culture labour support associations. 

TeenMINNO (ESF) 2014 (preproject), 2016 - 2018. TeiniMINNO is the new multidisciplinary and multigrade innovation operating model to support secondary and tertiary vocational path. The model focuses on the multi-stage and multidisciplinary innovation challenges that stem from work life. Project manager and expert developer LM Hero, main partner Omnia vocational college and several other partners.

Cultural manager 2020 (ESF) 2009 - 2012. Cultural manager 2020 -project was a future research project, it predicted the state of event production network in 2020 and aimed to recognize future challenges with respect to competence. The highlighted viewpoints consist of both cultural managers’ insights as well as the views of the surrounding professionals. Cultural Manager 2020 was a joint venture of the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences, Humak University of Applied Sciences, Novia University of Applied Sciences, Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences, Foundation for Cultural Policy Research Cupore and the Art and Cultural Professionals’ Trade Union TAKU. The project was carried out by Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
